Dry January Drag Show
Sober One Six’s very first Dry January Drag Show at Mister Goodbar was absolutely amazing featuring four non-drinking queens, Willa DeWhisp, Pamela Carnes, Crystal Ball, and Cella Rhee, and a non-drinking DJ, DJ Lil Gab! The Pride Center of WNY was there providing information on their programs and resources. They are a pillar in the queer community and we were so happy to have them!
No alcohol was served at this event in the spirit of Dry January, but the queens were definitely serving! The energy in the room felt no different, in fact, it felt more electric because the crowd and the performers were truly present and connected in the moment. Just because there was no alcohol does not mean we didn't have delicious drinks! The bartenders were slinging some specialty curated mocktails by Cait, the bar manager, and Mister Mocktail himself using Ritual Zero Proof alternatives and offering Fre Wine!
January Sober Social
Sober One Six held our first Sober Social of 2024 at House of Charm. We met some amazing people and played trivia as a group… and landed second place!! We host a monthly Sober Social on the 3rd Wednesday of each month! Check out our upcoming events page on our website to see what’s next! All Sober One Six events, including our Sober Socials, are a great way for everyone to get together and hang out whether you are sober, Cali-sober, sober-curious, or just supportive of the sober community.
Drag Me to the Gym 3.0
Closing out the month, we had our third installment of Drag Me to the Gym at Evolve Fitness in the Elmwood Village. The staff created a fun circuit class and our queens Willa DeWhisp, Mary Jane Price, and Neleh Slay came ready to motivate our guests! After we laughed and sweat our way through the first hour, Boost Body & Nutrition was on site providing samples of their protein shakes and energy teas which were to die for. You can check them out located on Hertel Avenue in North Buffalo. Boost Body does affordable EMS training, which if you haven't heard, is a new interesting way to work out that you WILL want to try!
We are so excited for what's to come but January will always hold a special place in our hearts!! Thank you to everyone who has joined our events and we hope to see you again soon.
